Speed Controls: The XP has three settings on each button to set the desired speed range (S=slow, M=medium, F=fast). The fill and empty buttons are independent of each other and can be set at different speeds. The speeds are changed by simply rotating the button until a detent is felt and the letter is upright when held in the right hand. The buttons are also proportional in nature. As with all other Pipet-Aids, the further you depress the button, faster filling or dispensing will result. With both buttons set at “M”, the XP will operate at the same speed as the Portable Pipet-Aid. Rotating the button to “S” will reduce the speed to approximately half of the medium speed while rotating to “F” will double the medium speed. DO NOT CHANGE SPEED RANGES WITH LIQUID IN THE PIPETTE.
Changing the Filter & Nosepiece Removal (View a video on the “Maintenance Video” tab): Unlike other Pipet-Aids with the T.C. nosepiece, the XP has a one piece nosepiece that contains the filter and rubber insert. This nosepiece locks into place and will not loosen when removing the pipette. To remove nosepiece, slide the nosepiece release button towards the handle and turn the nosepiece one quarter turn counter-clockwise.
Battery Replacement (View a video on the “Maintenance Video” tab): The battery is contained in the upper portion of the handle. Removal of one Philips screw (B), will enable you to remove the battery compartment door which will give you access to the battery. Use only Drummond replacement batteries (4-000-035). Under normal conditions, these batteries should last approximately 2 years.
Charging the Battery: The Drummond replacement battery is a Ni-MH battery which should be charged overnight following use. No “memory” will be developed and overcharging is not a problem.
Use of the Removable Stand: This lightweight stand slides on to the top of the XP enabling the user to set the Pipet-Aid XP down without removing or emptying the pipette. The stand will prevent liquid from running back into the nosepiece and prevent the pipette tip from contacting anything thus maintaining sterility. When not needed, the stand is easily removed.
Take the pain out of laboratory work with the ergonomic Portable Pipet-Aid® XP. Designed to alleviate operator fatigue, the lightweight, compact Portable Pipet-Aid XP offers state-of-the-art functionality in a small, convenient size.
Powered by an easily accessible 9 volt (Ni-MH) rechargeable battery, the convenient device accepts most pipettes from 1 to 100 mL. And the EZ Grip nosepiece with double membrane filter prevents cross-contamination.
Three-speed settings for pipet filler and dispenser modes provide precise control and accuracy. Fast speed can deliver up to 50 mL in 5 seconds and can be used for rapid filling of large pipets or breaking up cell clumps. Slow speed is ideal when using small pipettes or when more precise delivery is required. A gravity drain model is available which substitutes a gravity drain function for the fast mode on the dispense button.
Holster-type wall bracket and removable stand included.

Both units utilize the same glass capillaries for pulling micropipettes. Due to the new improved method of securing the micropipette, smaller tips can be pulled and utilized on the Nanoject III. No O-rings to wear out. A micro “chuck” is used, and it simplifies attachment of the micropipette once backfilled with oil. The Nanoject III’s auto HOMING feature will eliminate the need to “rehome the unit as in the Nanoject II. This can reduce, if not totally eliminate, jamming of the plunger. Now available for the Nanoject II is the new Digital Control Box which has all the functionality of the original control box but now features a user friendly, easy to read touchscreen.
